Frame/Material Construction

The simple clean lines of this Cabinet provide the perfect backdrop for the statement solid oak turned handles. Comprised of 4 glued quartered sections that not only provide an inherent stability to a natural material that could otherwise experience movement over time, but lend each handle a unique and charasmatic quality whereby no piece is the same. Due to the beautiful natural qualities of this hardwood and its variable tone and grain, you will note variances in colour and grain style across the handles, a characteristic that sets it apart from mass produced alternatives. The turning is continuous from front the back, with the chunky solid section set into the drawer fronts. To avoid damage in transit, handles are fixed to the inside of the doors & drawer fronts for delivery, however will be removed and positioned according to your instruction by our 2 person delivery crew.

The Sideboard frame is constructed from glued solid oak side panels which are over-veneered to lend a cleaner, more contemporary finish. The end grain from these solid oak sections are visible from the top, which is contructed from veneered chipboard that is solid edged across the radiused front. The back is also comprised of a veneered panel, again for product stability.

Drawers are 100% solid oak, with a double fronted construction that features visible ‘finger-joint’ detailing and exposed end grain. The drawers pull out on classic wooden runners with drawer stops incorporated. As with all solid wood panelling, drawer fronts are over-veneered to lend a cleaner, more contemporary finish.
Doors are constructed from solid framed chipboard panels, to provide the beauty of solid wood but with an in-built stability. They are hung from high performance stainless steel hinges which are adjustable in order to maintain a perfect positioning over time.

The single internal shelf is constructed from veneered chipboard, and is adjustable up or down at 35mm intervals across 9 positions to provide maximum flexibility, held on discreet stainless steel pins.
The base is constructed from 100% solid oak, with legs radiused along the outside edge to reflect the same organic styling as the occasional tables.

Each unique piece is hand finished in a natural white oil which provides a slightly whitened finish, reflecting the natural properties of this beautiful hardwood in it’s most natural state. Additional oil can be provided on request and we recommend re-oiling periodically to both maintain this natural finish and protect your wood over time.

Care Instructions

This item has been hand made from kiln dried solid oak. As such, it aims to celebrate the beautiful natural qualities of this material which ensure that each piece is completely unique and incorporates the detailing that is so inherent to it. Your purchase may feature one or all of the following characteristics;

Wood Shading and Grain Variance
Each individual piece will feature a different grain pattern, with variances in colour and shading evident within individual items and across different pieces. This variance only serves to enhance the natural qualities of your item.
Knots & Medullary Rays
Knots are a natural part of any solid wood purchase and add both character and interest. Medullary Ray markings are produced where wood is cut across its grain structure, producing interesting grain features and natural markings or flecks. Both characteristics are an inevitable feature of solid oak, and neither affects the performance of your item.

The white oil finish on this item has been chosen for its natural qualities which reflect the beauty of this hardwood in it’s most natural state. However, unlike lacquer finishes, oil is natural, semi porous finish that will require extra care and maintenance over time. To protect your furniture from spills and maintain it’s natural finish over time, we recommend that periodic oiling is required. Without re-oiling, the wood may become dry and become susceptible to spills and scuffing. We recommend you lightly hand oiling your furniture with a clean lint free cloth periodically or when seeming dry to the touch or appearing patchy. Likewise we recommend that any spills are removed immediately using a clean dry cloth. Light stains can be removed using a very fine grade of sandpaper (400 grit), afterwhich the item should be immediately re-oiled.

On delivery, your the furniture would have been wrapped in paper during its journey from the factory and may require light oiling immediately due to the variable absorbancy of the recyclable materials used in packing. We also suggest that doors and drawers are left open for a period after your item is un-packed and placed into your room of choice, to eradicate any risidual odour from the oil.

Bottles of oil can be supplied on request.
