Collection 2 Terrazzo Side Table

This Contemporary Terrazzo Side Table is the newest design in our solid oak cabinetry range, coordinating with our Collection Sideboard and Bookcase.

This fully assembled piece combines our signature solid oiled European oak base with our first collaboration with the artist and maker Daniela Rubino. Daniela hand casts each jesmonite terrazo table top from her studio in North London. Featuring combinations of ink blue, mustard yellow, calamine pink and mint green, each piece is entirely hand made and entirely unique.

The tops are attached to the solid oak base with a single solid brushed brass pin, with a coordinating brass cross base adding strength and stability to the 3 legged oak frame.

A natural blond oil finish maintains the beauty of the oak base in its most natural state. The jesmonite terrazzo tops are fully sealed to ensure that they are resilient to spills and stains.

Designed in collaboration with Daniela Rubino. Brass pins hand turned in the UK by Swarf Hardware.

Frame/Material Construction

Top in 100% Solid European oak sourced from managed forests. Hand finished in a natural white oil which provides a slightly whitened finish, reflecting the natural properties of this beautiful hardwood in its most natural state.

Additional oil can be provided on request and we recommend re-oiling periodically to both maintain this natural finish and protect your wood over time.

Each base is hand cast in contemporary jesmonite terrazzo. Note that, due to the nature of hand casting these pieces, and the random placing of the jesmonite colour chips, each design is completely unique.

Legs

The base frame is constructed in 100% solid oak, hand finished in a natural white oil which provides a slightly whitened finish, reflecting the natural properties of this beautiful hardwood in it’s most natural state.

Care Instructions

This item has been hand made from kiln dried solid oak. As such, it aims to celebrate the beautiful natural qualities of this material which ensure that each piece is completely unique and incorporates the detailing that is so inherent to it. Your purchase may feature one or all of the following characteristics;

Wood Shading and Grain Variance
Each individual piece will feature a different grain pattern, with variances in colour and shading evident within individual items and across different pieces. This variance only serves to enhance the natural qualities of your item.
Knots & Medullary Rays
Knots are a natural part of any solid wood purchase and add both character and interest. Medullary Ray markings are produced where wood is cut across its grain structure, producing interesting grain features and natural markings or flecks. Both characteristics are an inevitable feature of solid oak, and neither affects the performance of your item.

The white oil finish on this item has been chosen for its natural qualities which reflect the beauty of this hardwood in its most natural state. However, unlike lacquer finishes, oil is natural, semi porous finish that will require extra care and maintenance over time. To protect your furniture from spills and maintain its natural finish over time, we recommend that periodic oiling is required. Without re-oiling, the wood may become dry and become susceptible to spills and scuffing. We recommend you lightly hand oiling your furniture with a clean lint free cloth periodically or when seeming dry to the touch or appearing patchy. Likewise we recommend that any spills are removed immediately using a clean dry cloth. Light stains can be removed using a very fine grade of sandpaper (400 grit), after which the item should be immediately re-oiled.

On delivery, your furniture would have been wrapped in paper during it’s journey from the factory and may require light oiling immediately due to the variable absorbancy of the recyclable materials used in packing.

Bottles of oil can be supplied on request.
